Exchange partnerships
You should discuss your application fully with advisers at your home university before you apply. They will help you ensure we have an agreement in place. If you can meet our requirements, they will provide advice about your module selection and credit transfer.
If your home university doesn't have an agreement in place with us, you could still study as an exchange student in NTU as a fee-paying student.
Many students study with us through a direct partnership arrangement between NTU and their home university. Please contact the International or Study Abroad Office in your home institution to check whether they have a partnership arrangement with NTU.
You can also apply to our study abroad programme for one or two semesters via theInternational Student Exchange Programme (ISEP) network. Please contact ISEP for more information on the options available to you.
NTU welcomes applications from students who want to spend a period of time studying in the UK, earning credits to transfer back to their home institution.
Fee-paying students are able to apply from any university. An agreement between NTU and your home university is not necessary.
Students can choose to study for one semester or the full academic year. Modules are available across most disciplines and are part of the regular undergraduate curriculum, enabling study abroad students to study alongside UK-based home students.
Please email ntuglobal@ntu.ac.uk to express your interests.

The academic year runs from September to June and is divided into three terms or two semesters, depending on your choice of study. You can choose to do an exchange for one term, either Semester One or Two, or study with us for a full year.
- Semester One - September to February
- Semester Two - January to June

It’s important to plan your application carefully and allow yourself plenty of time, especially if you need a visa to study at NTU. The application process varies depending on whether you're joining us through a partnership or as a fee paying student.
Here are the steps you need to take to do an exchange at NTU:
- Contact your school exchange coordinator.
- Choose your course and modules.
- Submit your study exchange application to your home university.
To enrol on our exchange or study abroad programme, you must have completed at least one year of study and be in good academic standing at your home university. Some subject areas, such as art and design, will expect to see a portfolio of work as part of the application process for certain modules.
If you are applying from an EU partner university to spend a semester or year studying abroad at NTU, you must demonstrate that your English language level is CEFR level B2 or higher overall and in each of the four components of language learning (i.e., Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing). If you're an exchange student coming from one of our international exchange partners, you will not pay any tuition fees to NTU in most cases. If you are required to pay fees, you can find full details below.
If you're from a university that does not have a formal exchange agreement with us, you are still welcome to undertake a period of study abroad at NTU. In this case, you'd be responsible for paying your own tuition fees, which are listed below:
